OTHER INITATIVES

iStock_000011160008MediumEURASIAPAC is not the only one initiative aiming at supporting the development of S&T cooperation between Europe and Asia-Pacific, namely in the ICT area. It is obviously important that synergies between EURASIAPAC and other similar or complementary initiatives can develop in order that each initiative can be the most successful.

The EURASIAPAC partnership is committed to develop these synergies, i.e. to promote the exchange of information, the organisation of co-located events, the planning of possible joint activities, etc.
Among the initiatives and projects launched through EU-funded programmes with which such synergies can be developed, the EURASIAPAC partnership has identified the following ones and already started to develop synergies with some of them :

• The SECAS support action, focusing on Singapore and Australia, supported by the European Commission’s DG Information Society and Media,

• The INCO-NET projects, aiming at strengthening bi-regional and bilateral dialogues, such as PACE-net for Asia-Pacific,

• The ERA-NET projects aiming at developing a European-level approach to international S&T cooperation, such as CONCERT for Japan, and KORANET for Korea,

• The BILAT projects, supporting the coordination for the enhancement and development of S&T Partnerships with third countries with which the European Commission has signed S&T agreements, such as FEED/FEAST for Australia, J-BILAT for Japan, KESTCAP for Korea, and FRENZ for New Zealand,

• The Access4EU projects aiming at supporting access of European organizations to R&D programmes launched by third countries, such as AUS_ACCESS4EU for Australia, KORRIDOR for Korea, and ACCESS4EU:NZ for New Zealand (find here the details related to all countries),

• The TEIN3 project, managed by Dante and providing a dedicated high-capacity Internet network for research and education communities across Asia-Pacific, with direct connectivity to Europe’s GÉANT network.

The participation of representatives of several of the above-mentioned initiatives and projects in the EURASIAPAC Advisory Group, will of course facilitate the further development of possible synergies.

Should you be involved in an initiative not listed here and with which you think EURASIAPAC should consider developing synergies, please contact us.
